HAITI …..What kind of thoughts does that word bring to your mind?
Right now there is a WARNING out by the US Government about Americans going to Haiti. We had no problems at all.
Just got back, in April, from a mission trip with Truth Ministry www.truthem.org
The whole trip was quite amazing. We were in the mountains of Haiti several hours to the north of Port Au Prince. It was like a step back in time. No electricity, no plumbing, inside or out, no phones, no cell phones, no running water. The main source of transportation is by donkey. Reminded me of rural Tennessee back in the late ’40s and early ’50s. However, there were many, many good things about the people. They were very friendly, kind, and considerate of each other and our group.
My job was to document, on video and photos, the efforts and mission of Truth Ministry in Haiti. We were there for 19 days, during which we documented both a series of Youth Vacation Bible Schools, and then the following week, a Pastor’s conference.
There were over 50 Hatian pastors in attendance at the Pastor’s Conference and the VBS was held at 5 different voodoo villages in the mountain region. The VBS was lead by pastors from various churches in NW Florida and assisted by youth from several of those churches.

Daily pastor conferences……

Ginette involved in her early morning Bible study.

Looked like a National Geographic special, but only 300 miles off the coast of Florida

Yep, you are correct………. no pants at all.

The main source of transportation in the mountains of Haiti

Ginette was the cook for our team.

Our transportration to the mountains of Haiti. A two and a half ton Vietnam era military truck …. COOL !

Hello Tom, Hi Linda !
Thank you for sharing your photos-documentary.
Your mission in Haiti seems to have been a great human experience. Giving without expecting anything in return,
offering a helping and friendly hand, etc… we all need that.
